Catastrophe! Chile in the face of the Precipice (Part I). A country facing the dual prospect of revolution and collapse. A programmatic discussion
The political and social crisis opened up in Chile by the recent popular rebellion in October is not, in the final analysis, a mere crisis of the neo-liberal economic model that has prevailed in this country for more than three decades, nor is it exclusively the beginning of a new historical crisis of the capitalist system. On the contrary, the Chilean social outburst of previous weeks, which occurred in the context of a major worsening of the drought affecting the country and other serious environmental problems already affecting various regions, is an integral part of a terminal and irreversible eco-social crisis that threatens to produce over the coming decades, as a result of the combination of the blows of the current global capitalist crisis and the (terminal) effects of the dynamics of super catastrophic climate change, energy collapse and resource depletion advancing internationally.... the complete collapse of the Chilean nation state. From this point on, the past popular outburst in Chile should not be understood either as the beginning of a classic revolutionary workers' process such as those seen during the 20th century, or as the rise of a popular struggle for civil rights such as that developed in Chile during the 80's with the anti-dictatorial protests... but, in fact, as one of the first symptoms of the beginning of a real planetary people's war for the control of resources, this in the framework of a process of complete collapse (or collapse) of the world capitalist system.
1. The need for a new programme and a new policy... in the face of a
new historical epoch
During the 2020s and 2040s, as shown by a series of climate models, the advance of climate change will lead to the desertification of a large part of Chilean territory, as well as a catastrophic drop in basic resources (water, food, productive inputs, etc.) that will make the existence of large cities unviable. In a context of structural crisis marked by the development of chronic environmental mega-catastrophes (for example, among others, the development of super-droughts, mega-fires, avalanches and storms of unprecedented magnitude, phenomena of chronic mass death of marine species, etc.), the extinction of marine chains, the extinction of the entire world's food chains, and the destruction of the environment, among others, The Chilean nation-state itself, after more than two hundred years of existence, could experience a radical, dramatic and violent end to its existence. The fate of Chile could be sealed! The blows of the next global climatic Armageddon that will make a large part of our planet uninhabitable, for example after we reach a global warming increase of more than 1.5 degrees Celsius in the near future, call into question the very viability of the Chilean nation!
